Catalina dressing is a tomato-based salad dressing made with tomato paste or ketchup, as well as sugar, vinegar, onions, olive oil and spices. Similar to French dressing, Catalina is red-orange in color, and has a distinctive tangy taste.[1] Besides salad dressing, Catalina is often used as a marinade when cooking meat. The name "Catalina" derives from a kingdom of Spain, called Catalonia.
Kraft Foods is a popular brand that makes Catalina dressing. Wish-bone also produces a version of Catalina, except they call it "Sweet and Spicy French".
